Summary of Essential Job Duties:
The primary responsibility of the Fieldwork Instructor is to observe, guide, and mentor PPS Candidates in the manner determined by the School of Education and aligned with the University mission.

Educational Requirements:
A Master's Degree in the area of School Counseling with California Pupil Personnel Services Credential: School Counseling is required. Doctorate-level candidates who hold this P.P.S. Credential preferred. Fieldwork Instructor will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of policy changes in the field of School Counseling.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a School Counselor capacity at a school site, school district, charter management organization, or at the archdiocesan level. Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) and organizational and leadership skills; Demonstrated computer competency, knowledge of relevant systems, and willingness to learn computer programs used in the supervision component of Educational Support Services. Experience working in diverse socioeconomic areas as well as with English Learners and Special Education populations is preferred. Functional knowledge of computers and technology, including LiveText and Blackboard applications, is highly desirable.

Fieldwork Instructors will observe Counseling Candidates throughout the semester, document their experience, provide formative and summative digital evaluations, conduct course meetings, facilitate meaningful learning of the course competencies, and support all facets of the learning environment consistent with the University's mission. In addition, Fieldwork Instructors will encourage a culture of learning that values mutual responsibility and respect, life-long learning, and ethics as well as personal and professional development in the area of School Counseling.
